Oct 7 - The Beauty of Family

Bible Verses: Colossians 1:15-17 New Living Translation (NLT) "Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through Him God created everything in the heavenly realms and the things we can’t see - - everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and He holds all creation together."

Prayer: "Dear Lord,  Of all the things that You created, the most amazing is humankind.  The beauty of family, in whatever form it takes, whether grandparents raising grandchildren, or step-parents, or adoptive parents, or foster parents -- they are all beautiful in their own way.  Of course, we thank You and praise You for the breathtaking splendor of nature that we see around us, but most of all we thank You for our families, for they show us a small glimpse of the love that exists in Your heart for us.  Help us to always try to show that kind of love to others and be part of the beauty of this earth that You have created for us to enjoy! In Jesus' name, AMEN."

"For the Beauty of the Earth"

For the beauty of the earth,
for the beauty of the skies,
for the love which from our birth
over and around us lies;
Lord of all, to thee we raise
this our hymn of grateful praise.

For the beauty of each hour
of the day and of the night,
hill and vale, and tree and flower,
sun and moon, and stars of light;
Lord of all, to thee we raise
this our hymn of grateful praise.

For the joy of human love,
brother, sister, parent, child,
friends on earth and friends above,
for all gentle thoughts and mild;
Lord of all, to thee we raise
this our hymn of grateful praise.
