Sept 30 - God is Always With Me

Bible Verse: Hebrews 13:5 New Living Translation (NLT) For God has said, 'I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.'"

Prayer: "Dear Lord,  Even when I'm feeling all alone, all I need to do is look at the sky and know that You are here with me. You have promised never to leave me or forsake me. I claim that promise, and trust that You will walk with me through everything that comes my way today. In Jesus' name, AMEN."

Sept 29 - Lord, I Give You My Life

Bible Verse: 2 Timothy 4:6 New Living Translation (NLT) "As for me, my life has already been poured out as an offering to God."

Prayer: "Dear Lord, I pour out my life to You as an offering. All that I have and all that I am is Yours. Help me to live my life in such a way that others can see that I am totally surrendered to You.  I hold nothing back.  You can have access to everything -- even the parts of me that I might keep secret from other people.  I want to be totally Yours, Lord, without any reservations. I bow before You, today, and offer myself up to You. Fill me with Your Spirit, I pray, and use me in whatever way You see fit. In Jesus' precious name, AMEN."

Sept 28 - Open My Eyes, Lord

Bible Verses: 2 Kings 6:16-17 New Living Translation (NLT) "'Don’t be afraid!' Elisha told him. 'For there are more on our side than on theirs!' Then Elisha prayed, 'O Lord, open his eyes and let him see!' The Lord opened the young man’s eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire."

Prayer: "Dear Lord, I want to be like Elisha, who had the eyes of his heart open to Your Spirit. He saw what the young man could not see. And yet, with one prayer from Elisha, the eyes of the young man's heart were opened and he could see that there were more on the Lord's side than there were against Him.  So today, Lord, I pray that prayer for myself -- open my eyes so that I can see the power that only You possess to win the battles in my life.  I claim the victory over sin in my life in Jesus' name.  May my heart always be open to Your leading. AMEN."

Sept 27 - Is Jesus Calling You?

Bible Verse: John 14:6 New Living Translation (NLT) "Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me."

Prayer: "Dear Lord,  I must admit that I have never actually heard You speak out loud to me, but there are definitely times when I felt Your presence near me and felt the "nudging" of the Holy Spirit drawing me closer to You when I had strayed from the right path and gone my own way. Your patience never ends. You are so gentle with me. You don't make me feel ashamed or unworthy. Instead, You call me Your friend and tenderly lead me to Your side.  I know which button I would push if You called me -- "Answer!" In Jesus name, AMEN."

Deuteronomy 10:21 New Living Translation (NLT) "He alone is your God, the only One who is worthy of your praise, the One who has done these mighty miracles that you have seen with your own eyes."

Prayer: "Dear Lord,  I don't want to just sing pretty songs to You. I want my worship to be more than just praising You and then walking away unchanged. Lord, help me to keep on serving You and praising You with my whole life in action and not just in song.  I want to still be honoring You long after the music fades. In Jesus name, AMEN."

Sept 25 - Bow Before His Holiness

Bible Verse: Psalm 99:5 New Living Translation (NLT) "Exalt the Lord our God! Bow low before His feet, for He is holy!"

Prayer: "Dear God, I come before You in all reverence and recognize that You alone are Holy.  God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit -- all separate entities, but You are all one God. I will admit that the concept of the Trinity has always baffled me, but I know that there are some things that I won't fully understand until I get to Heaven. I don't know what You look like. Many artists have tried to capture what they imagine You might look like, but personally I think our feeble human minds can't comprehend Your greatness and Your power. I bow before You today in prayer, asking nothing, but simply acknowledging Your perfect holiness and awesome power. You alone are God, and there is none like You. In Jesus name, AMEN."

Sept 24 - Complete Surrender

Bible Verse: Matthew 22:37 New King James Version (NKJV) "Jesus said to him, 'you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.'"

Prayer: "Dear Lord, Sometimes I hold things back in my life. I think to myself, "that's mine . . . it doesn't have anything to do with God."  But Lord, you've been working on my heart and showing me that everything that I am and ever will be belongs to You, because You created me.  So today, Lord, I completely surrender all that I am to you -- even the corners of my heart and soul that I don't want anybody to see. You can go there. I want You to go there. Be the ultimate "boss" in my life. Take control of all the things that I've been trying to run on my own, because I've failed miserably in so many ways.  I give up! Take my whole heart ... Take my whole life ... it's really Yours anyway! In Jesus name, AMEN."

Sept 23 - Sweet Hour of Prayer

Bible Verses: Matthew 6:6-7 New Living Translation (NLT) "But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you. And when you pray, don’t babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask Him!"

Prayer: "Lord, I am so thankful that You are "open" for prayer 24 hours a day, seven days a week, every single day of the Year.  And even if I can't think of the words to say, You know what is in my heart.  Sometimes all I need to do is sit in quietness and think about You.  Help me to live with an attitude of prayer all day long -- to chat with You as I would a friend whenever I get the chance, because You truly are my best Friend in the universe. Help me to teach this to my children so that they can learn to trust You as their best Friend too and talk to You in prayer whenever they want or need to. Thank You for hearing and answering my prayers. You may not always answer them in the way that I expect, but You know what is best for me, so I'll trust You in that department. I love You Jesus! AMEN."

Bible Verse: Job 19:25 New Living Translation (NLT) "But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and He will stand upon the earth at last."

Prayer: "Dear Lord, I do believe that You rose again from the dead and are now in Heaven waiting for that marvelous day when You will return to earth to gather Your children and take them home to Heaven to live with You forever. I thank You and praise You for the wonderful promise of eternal life that I have because You conquered the grave.  I KNOW You are alive, because I can feel You changing my heart and see you working in my life.  In Your precious name, AMEN."

Sept 21 - Power in the Blood

Bible Verses: Hebrews 10:19-22 New Living Translation (NLT) "And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter Heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. By His death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting Him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean."

Prayer: "Dear Lord,  Thank You for shedding Your blood on the Cross for me. Because of Your incredible sacrifice, I can now boldly approach our Heavenly Father without fear because I know that my sins have been vanquished by Your blood. The chains of sin that once held me in bondage have been broken.  The habits that used to hold me captive are but a memory. Thanks to Jesus, I don't go the places I used to go, I don't talk the way I used to talk, and I don't act the way I used to act -- and it's all because of the power of Jesus' blood! In His  name, AMEN."

Sept 20 - God's Amazing Handiwork

Bible Verse: Psalm 19:1-2 New Living Translation "The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known."

Prayer: "Dear Heavenly Father,  Every time I look up into the sky at night and see the stars I am amazed at Your handiwork.  How do You keep all of the planets in orbit? How did You decide to use the phases moon to coordinate the ocean's tides?  How did you decide that we should have four seasons -- why not three or five? Lord, the fact that You simply spoke and all of this was created is beyond my comprehension. Truly You are mighty and holy and worthy of my praise! In Jesus name, AMEN."

Bible Verse: Psalm 139:5 New Living Translation (NLT) "You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head."

Prayer: "Dear Lord,  I could never begin to count the blessings that you have poured out on me.  I have so much to be thankful for. Sometimes when I pray, it's all about asking you for this or that and I forget to simply say "Thank You" for all that you have given me.  So today, Lord, I just want to say thanks for all the good things in my life! In Jesus name, AMEN."

Sept 18 - New Life in Jesus

Bible Verse: Romans 5:8 New Living Translation (NLT) "But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners."

Prayer: "Dear Jesus,  Sometimes I feel so alone in this world -- like nobody even cares if I exist.  I go through my day and it's just the same thing over and over again. It seems like nothing is ever new. Where would I be without You? I remember standing in crowds of people and still feeling so very lonely. I longed for someone to love me just for who I was.  And then You came along. You took my wounded heart, patched up all the scars, and brought me back to life again.  Now every morning is another change to live as a new creation.  I look forward to my future because I know that You will be walking through it right beside me, so I have nothing to worry about.  Thank You so much for dying for me so that I could experience this wonderful new life! In Your precious name, AMEN."

Prayer: "Dear Lord, You said in the Bible that unless I become as a little child, I will never see Your kingdom in Heaven (Matthew 18:3).  Lord, I want to trust You completely with every part of my life.  I know that You know what is best for me in the long run.  You can see the big picture, while I can only see what's in front of me at the moment.  Help me to be as trusting as a little child. Bible Verse: Isaiah 40:31 New King James Version (NKJV) "But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."

Prayer: "Dear Lord,  I am so impatient. I want what I want and I want it NOW! Lord, give me the patience to wait on You, trusting that You are in control of every situation.  You have promised that if I wait on You, that you will pick me up when I'm completely worn out and give me my second wind.  Lord, I do get tired a lot and feel like I just can't go on sometimes.  Help me to think of a soaring eagle at those times and remember Your promise to be my strength. In Jesus name, AMEN."

Bible Verse: 1 Corinthians 15:57 New King James Version (NKJV) "But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."

Prayer: "Dear Lord,  I don't have to wonder if I have been saved. Thanks to Your loving and complete sacrifice on the cross, I have the victory over sin in my life. The devil cannot mess with me anymore. In Your name, I claim the victory over addictions in my life, over sickness in my life, and over difficult circumstances in my life.  I may not see immediate results, but I know that You are at work in my life and that eventually I will emerge victorious -- not because of anything that I have done, but because of Your marvelous grace and power! Bible Verse: Psalm 104:1 New King James Version (NKJV) "Bless the Lord, O my soul! O Lord my God, You are very great: You are clothed with honor and majesty!"

Prayer: "Dear Lord, I cannot begin to count the reasons for thanking and praising You.  There is nobody else who can love me like You do.  Your unconditional love and constant companionship are beyond comparison.  I am blessed to call You my Savior and my Friend.   I could never pray enough prayers or sing enough songs to capture all that You mean to me, but that doesn't mean I will stop praying and singing Your praises! Sept 13 - God's Marvelous Creations

Bible Verse: Psalm 104:24 New Living Translation (NLT) "O Lord, what a variety of things you have made! In wisdom you have made them all. The earth is full of your creations."

Prayer: "Dear Heavenly Father,  I thank You and praise You for the variety, beauty, and complexity I see in nature.  From the farthest star to the dandelions under my feet, I can see Your awesome creative power all around me.  Help me to not only appreciate nature, but to protect it and respect it.  You have given me this earth as my temporary home.  Help me to take good care of it and to never forget that it was created by Almighty God.  When I look at the wonders of nature all around me, I am truly amazed. (Full lyrics below)

"This Is My Father's World"

This is my Father's world,
and to my list'ning ears
all nature sings, and round me rings
the music of the spheres.
(This is my Father's world:
I rest me in the thought
of rocks and trees, of skies and seas;
His hand the wonders wrought.)

This is my Father's world,
the birds their carols raise,
the morning bright, the lily white,
declare their Maker's praise.
This is my Father's world:
He shines in all that's fair;
in the rustling grass I hear Him pass;
He speaks to me everywhere.

This is my Father's world.
O let me ne'er forget
that though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the ruler yet.
This is my Father's world:
why should my heart be sad?
The Lord is King; let the heavens ring!
God reigns; let the earth be glad!

Sept 12 - Living by Example

Bible Verse: Titus 2:7 New Living Translation (NLT) "And you yourself must be an example to them by doing good works of every kind. Let everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness of your teaching."

Prayer: "Dear Lord, Help me not just to believe in You, but to live like You.  Help me not just to "talk the talk," but to "walk the walk" as well.  May I lead by example in such a way that others who see my behavior wonder, "How come she's so happy and at peace?" or "Why would she want to do something without getting anything in return?" or "What makes her so different?" Lord, help me to be so closely connected to You that I absolutely ooze Your love into the world around me.  That's how I want to live -- giving everything I have and holding nothing back. Sept 11 - An End to Death and Suffering

Bible Verse: Revelation 21:4 New Living Translation (NLT) "He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever."

Prayer: "Dear Lord,  As I remember those thousands who died on September 11, 2001, my heart is saddened at the immense loss of life. I remember the horror and shock of our entire nation as we stared, transfixed, at the news on our televisions.  Truly, it was a sorrowful day for many families and for our entire country. But Lord, You have promised that one day You will return to earth and put an end to suffering and death. Help me to be ready for that day and to always keep You as the most important thing in my life.  I know that You have forgiven my sins, and because of Your wonderful salvation, one day I will be in Heaven with You.  I pray that You will remind the families who lost loved ones in this tragedy of the hope that they will see their saved loved ones again in Heaven, where tears will be a distant memory and death will no longer exist. In Jesus name, AMEN."

Sept 10 - Just Come as You Are

Bible Verse: Matthew 11:28 New Living Translation (NLT) "Then Jesus said, 'Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.'"

Prayer: "Dear Lord,  most of the time I am such a mess. I don't deserve Your love. I don't deserve Your forgiveness. I don't deserve for You to even take a second look at me.  But somehow, you love me unconditionally anyway.  You loved me so much that You sent Your only son, Jesus, to die on the cross for me. Because of His sacrifice, I can come to You and ask for forgiveness. I don't have to get my act together before coming to You. I can come to You just as I am, Lord, and trust that You accept me that way. I willingly turn my back on my old life and trust You to help me create a "new me."  You have promised me eternal life if only I believe and trust in You.  Thank You, Jesus, for giving me this wonderful gift of forgiveness and everlasting life.  Now I have hope, joy, love, and peace in my life because of You. In Your precious and holy name, AMEN."

Bible Verse: Proverbs 3:5-6 New Living Translation (NLT) "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take."

Prayer: "Good Morning Lord!  I know that while I rested, You were busy working things out in my life. From studying Your word and seeing You work in my life, I know You well enough to trust that You only want what is best for me.  Help me to trust You completely in everything that I do, as a child trusts a parent.  Help me to obey You as best I can, with Your help.  Reveal to me what choices I should make in life and help me to stick to them.  I am only human, Lord, and I know that I fail sometimes. Thank You for being patient with me and for continuing to offer Your forgiveness. I have learned that the only way to truly be happy is to know You, to trust You, and to obey You. Help me never to lose hold of Your hand, I pray. In Jesus name, AMEN."

Bible Verse: Proverbs 22:6 New Living Translation (NLT) "Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it."

Prayer: "Dear Lord, may I take seriously the job You've given me of teaching my children the truth about God and how He sent Jesus down here to earth to save us.  And Lord, may I not stop there.  Help me to be a living example, starting here and now, of what it means to walk with You. May I be aware of those around me waving their hands in air, ready with questions, searching for answers.  Help me to see with Your eyes and realize that there is no time like the present to reach out to those around me, from the youngest child to the elderly. In Jesus name, AMEN."

Sept 7 - Don't Get Tired of Doing What's Right!

Bible Verse: Galatians 6:9 New Living Translation (NLT) "So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up."

Prayer: "Dear Lord,  Make me a witness to those around me who may not know You.  That doesn't mean I should go around beating people over the head with my Bible, but that I should be ready with an answer if anyone has a question about my faith.  Help me not to get tired or "laboring in the field" for You, for there are oodles of people all around me that may be longing to know more about You if only given the chance. I may only reach a handful of people in my lifetime, but I know that every single soul is precious to You, for You would have died if there had only been one person on earth who needed Your salvation.  Keep me going, Lord, and help me not to get discouraged when I don't get any positive feedback.  I may be the one to plant the seed of faith, someone else may come along and water it, and someone else may get to harvest it.  Help me to be faithful in doing what I feel called to do and let You worry about the results. In Jesus name, AMEN."

Sept 6 - God Heals Broken Hearts

Bible Verse: Psalm 34:18 New Living Translation (NLT) "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed."

Prayer: "Dear Lord, I'll admit there are times when I have doubts, when nothing in my life seems to make any sense.  Just when I think I have all of my ducks in a row, a bunch of them wander off, leaving me completely frustrated and confused.  Sometimes even reading the Bible doesn't make sense to me -- it seems like there are contradictions that I can't make heads or tails of.  There are so many different religions, and it seems as though everybody is so sure that they have it right.  When I lose my way, Lord, hold onto me, heal my broken heart, and bring me back to Your side. In Jesus' name, AMEN."
