Nov 7 - Break My Heart for What Breaks Yours

Bible Verses: John 8:3-11 New Living Translation (NLT) "As he was speaking, the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in the act of adultery. They put her in front of the crowd. “Teacher,” they said to Jesus, “this woman was caught in the act of adultery. The law of Moses says to stone her. What do you say?” They were trying to trap him into saying something they could use against him, but Jesus stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger. They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said, “All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!” Then he stooped down again and wrote in the dust. When the accusers heard this, they slipped away one by one, beginning with the oldest, until only Jesus was left in the middle of the crowd with the woman. Then Jesus stood up again and said to the woman, “Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?”  “No, Lord,” she said. And Jesus said, 'Neither do I. Go and sin no more.'"

Prayer: "Dear Jesus, Help me not to point fingers at people that I somehow think are 'less than' me when I know that I have my own sin to deal with.  Help me to see the sin in my own life and ask for Your forgiveness before I even begin to think about looking at anyone else's life.  It is not my place to judge, Lord -- That's Your job, not mine.  Instead of judging others, Lord, help me to reach out to them in love and mercy just as You did. You didn't condone what they did, but You didn't condemn them either.  Help me to see with Your eyes, to reach out with Your hands, and to love with Your love.  Lord, break my heart for what breaks Yours. In your precious and holy name, AMEN."

"Jesus, Friend Of Sinners"
Jesus, friend of sinners,
We have strayed so far away
We cut down people in your name
But the sword was never ours to swing
Jesus, friend of sinners,
The truth's become so hard to see
The world is on their way to You
But they're tripping over me
Always looking around but never looking up
I'm so double minded
A plank eyed saint with dirty hands and a heart divided

Oh Jesus, friend of sinners
Open our eyes to the world at the end of our pointing fingers
Let our hearts be led by mercy
Help us reach with open hearts and open doors
Oh Jesus, friend of sinners,
Break our hearts for what breaks yours

Yeah...

Jesus, friend of sinners,
The one who's writing in the sand
Made the righteous turn away
And the stones fall from their hands
Help us to remember
We are all the least of these
Let the memory of Your mercy
Bring Your people to their knees
Nobody knows what we're for only what we're against
When we judge the wounded
What if we put down our signs,
Crossed over the lines,
And loved like You did

Oh Jesus, friend of sinners
Open our eyes to world at the end of our pointing fingers
Let our hearts be led by mercy
Help us reach with open hearts and open doors
Oh Jesus, friend of sinners,
Break our hearts for what breaks yours

You love every lost cause;
You reach for the outcast
For the leper and the lame;
They're the reason that You came
Lord I was that lost cause
And I was the outcast
But you died for sinners just like me,
A grateful leper at Your feet

'Cause You are good, You are good
And Your love endures forever
You are good, You are good
And Your love endures forever
You are good, You are good
And Your love endures forever
You are good, You are good
And Your love endures forever

Oh Jesus, friend of sinners
Open our eyes to world at the end of our pointing fingers
Let our hearts be led by mercy
Help us reach with open hearts and open doors
Oh Jesus, friend of sinners,
Break our hearts for what breaks Yours

And I was the lost cause
And I was the outcast
Yeah...
You died for sinners just like me,
A grateful leper at Your feet
